Flat Tyre Change Procedure
Trunk Tools
Wheel Wrench
Jack
Spare Tyre
Find a safe, flat location
Pull away from traffic onto firm, level ground. Activate hazard lights and place warning triangle.
Apply the parking brake
Apply parking brake fully and place wheel chock behind the opposite wheel to prevent rolling.
Loosen wheel nuts first
Use wheel wrench to loosen nuts (counter-clockwise) BEFORE jacking β critical step, much harder after jacking.
Position jack at correct point
Place jack at designated lifting points on the vehicle chassis near the flat tyre. Never jack at any other point.
Raise vehicle and swap tyre
Raise until the tyre is 2-3 cm off the ground. Remove nuts, remove flat, mount spare tyre.
Tighten nuts in star pattern
Hand-tighten nuts alternating opposite pairs (star pattern), lower vehicle, then fully tighten in same star pattern.
Check spare tyre pressure
Verify spare tyre pressure and visit service outlet to repair or replace the flat tyre as soon as possible.
Jump Starting a Flat Battery
Connect red cable (+)
Clamp one end of the red (+) cable to the DEAD battery positive, then connect the other end to the GOOD battery positive terminal.
Connect black cable (-)
Clamp one end of black (-) cable to the GOOD battery negative, then connect the other end to an UNPAINTED ENGINE BLOCK BOLT on the dead car β NOT the dead battery terminal (prevents spark near battery gases).
Start the donor car
Start the donor car and let it run for 2-3 minutes to partially charge the dead battery.
Start your car
Attempt to start your car. If successful, let the engine run for 20-30 minutes to recharge the battery.
Disconnect cables in reverse order
Remove black from engine block, then black from donor, then red from donor, then red from your battery.
β Do NOT push-start an automatic transmission vehicle β it can damage the transmission
Towing Methods
Sling tow β NOT ALLOWED for Proton Saga
Front wheels on ground β NOT ALLOWED for AT/CVT vehicles (can damage transmission)
Flatbed/carriage β all wheels on carriage. Preferred method.
Rear wheels lifted, front wheels on ground β acceptable for MT only
Front wheels lifted, rear wheels on ground β acceptable for AT/MT

Engine Overheating
Stop driving immediately
Find a safe spot away from traffic. Do not continue driving β severe engine damage can result from sustained overheating.
Switch off the engine
Turn off the engine and open the bonnet (hood) to improve ventilation. Never drive with the bonnet open.
Wait until completely cool
Wait at least 30 minutes β NEVER open the radiator cap while hot β severe burn hazard from steam and pressurised coolant.
Check coolant level
Once cool, check the coolant reservoir. If empty, add clean water as a temporary measure then drive to an authorized PROTON service outlet.
